If you’re one of those people who, when you hear the word “politics,” you start to feel disgusted, then be assured – I understand how you feel.
Politics is an arena filled with negativity and nastiness. It’s easy to tune it out, and pay no attention to it. And that’s one of the reasons we don’t discuss politics on “Austin Hill’s Big World of Small Business.” By design, both our program and web content are intended to be inspiring, thought provoking, and helpful – not negative and nasty.
But business does not operate without rules. In, fact, our entire society – businesses included – would case to function without limited, consistent, and fairly administered rules and regulations. And the rules and regulations by which we are all supposed to live and work are what we call “public policy” – and public policy is a product of our political processes.
So while politics and politicians can leave us annoyed, disgusted, and disillusioned, it is still important to realize that simply ignoring our elected officials and the rules they create is not an option.
Fortunately there are some great organizations in our country (most of which are non-profit groups) that do great research on the various rules and regulations that govern our lives and our businesses, and they make that information available to us.
I recommend that you connect with the groups below; check their websites frequently, sign up for their email bulletins; get informed, and then get in touch with your elected officials.
